Privacy Policy — Chess Duel
Chess Duel: Play Chess Online ("Chess Duel", "the game") is developed by SumoPlay ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game collects and how it is used. By using the game, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and a unique user ID from Google. Signing in is optional — you can play as a guest — but an account is required for ranked online play and the leaderboards.
- Guest information. If you play as a guest, we create a temporary guest identifier so your games and settings work. A guest identifier is not linked to your name or email.
- Gameplay information. Games you play, moves, results, ratings (Elo), ranking position, and the room codes you create or join. This is necessary to run online matches and rankings.
- Technical information. Basic data needed to operate and secure the online service, such as device model, operating system version, app version and crash reports.
2. How we use this information
- To provide online games, private rooms and the practice-vs-AI modes.
- To run ratings, rankings and leaderboards.
- To keep your account and profile available across sessions.
- To protect the service against cheating, abuse and technical problems, and to improve stability.
We do not sell your personal data. The game is supported by advertising — see §5 for how advertising data is handled.
3. What other players can see
Your display name, profile picture, rating and match results are visible to other players inside the game (for example in a game room and on the leaderboards). Your email address is never shown to other players.
4. Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the game — such as Google (sign-in) and our backend hosting/database providers — who process it on our behalf under their respective privacy terms, and with advertising providers as described in §5. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. Advertising
The game is supported by ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and use data such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and app interactions to serve, personalize (where permitted) and measure ads, in accordance with Google's advertising policies. Where required, the game asks for your consent before personalized advertising. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads on Android).
6. Deleting your account and data
You can ask us to delete your Chess Duel account and associated data (profile, rating and ranking entries, and game history linked to your account) at any time:
- Send an email to tranquyetmdc@gmail.com from the email address of the Google account you signed in with, with the subject "Delete my Chess Duel account".
- We verify the request comes from the account owner and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Guest data can be deleted the same way (tell us your guest display name), and you can also revoke the game's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account settings. Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security purposes, and are then deleted or anonymized.
7. Children
Chess Duel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect data, including encrypted connections between the game and our service providers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. The current version will always be available at this URL, with its effective date.
